Ce Frelon recherche les climats secs et les milieux ouverts. Le Frelon oriental a \u00e9t\u00e9 introduit accidentellement en Espagne dans les ann\u00e9es 2010, ainsi qu&rsquo;\u00e0 Madagascar, au Mexique, au Chili, ainsi que localement en Chine. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couvert en France en 2021, d&rsquo;abord \u00e0 Marseille (Bouches-du-Rh\u00f4ne), puis dans le Var ainsi que dans les Alpes-Maritimes en 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le m\u00e9tabolisme de ce Frelon est unique car ses bandes abdominales jaunes poss\u00e8dent des nanostructures contenant un pigment, la xanthopt\u00e9rine capable de transformer l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie lumineuse en \u00e9nergie \u00e9lectrique. Son m\u00e9tabolisme \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique est alors localement ind\u00e9pendant de la respiration, source habituelle de l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie cellulaire des animaux. On trouve chez un Mollusque, <em>Elysia chlorotica<\/em> qui lui r\u00e9alise carr\u00e9ment la photosynth\u00e8se gr\u00e2ce au pr\u00e9l\u00e8vement de chloroplastes, maintenus fonctionnels par une subtilit\u00e9 g\u00e9n\u00e9tique propre \u00e0 cet animal. Cette m\u00eame capacit\u00e9 d&rsquo;autotrophie qui est une comp\u00e9tence fondamentalement v\u00e9g\u00e9tale. Les coraux ou d&rsquo;autres Cnidaires, quant \u00e0 eux int\u00e8grent des organismes v\u00e9g\u00e9taux g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement microscopiques, entiers et par symbiose profitent de la photosynth\u00e8se \u00ab\u00a0\u00e0 domicile\u00a0\u00bb.
